Aggression unifies with class

Arsenal

Arsenal on point again! From disabled kids playing football to footballers learning a few ballerina steps, Citroen uses football players for their campaign to bring more publicity to Arsenal and Citroen.  Citroen is one of Arsenal sponsors and it has started from the move away from Highbury to new home “the Emirates” but that is not important. What is important is the use of Arsenal players promoting Citroen in a couple of ads.
They call it Footballet, and I call it “Aggression unifies with class”Arsenal. The two organizations collaborated to form one campaign that publicized both Arsenal FC and Citroen. One would realize that it’s more of a Citroen campaign though, but the players were used in very strategic way. Arsenal FC is a big football organization and whoever represents it on TV or any mass communication medium promotes and attracts media attention resulting in free publicity.
Apart from the publicity and the campaign, personally I think the two organizations have a good business relationship and it’s a good example to show how important relationships are in the ever growing and changing business environment. This method of advertising has been used a lot of times e.g. KFC has used it in the cricket promotions, Milo has used too etc.

Deaf and physically challenged run up the Emirates.

fcarsenaltickets.co.uk

Recently Arsenal football club, has hosted a PR campaign to inspire and motivate Incapacitated people into sports. Disabled people need more motivation and belief, so for a football club like Arsenal to come up with good initiative like (Arsenal hosts Paralympic sports legacy drive) its a good boost for awareness and to instill belief in those who have any disability.

"Youngsters from a variety of disability sports sessions coordinated throughout the year by Arsenal in the Community kicked off the event with a penalty shoot-out on Emirates Stadium’s award-winning pitch"Arsenal FC. This is one of the ways the organising commitee and the PR department, motivated the kids. I think it's a good CSI campaign to show the importance of giving back to the community. Football clubs like ArsenalFC are leading by example and instead of being ignorant, we need to learn from them and make the world a better place.

Add caption
"Pupils from The Bridge Primary School, Treehouse, Hackney Learning Trust (Horizon School) and players from Arsenal’s visually impaired and deaf football teams all lined up to take a penalty on the hallowed turf"Arsenal. Whats better than standing on the same pitch, your football heros have stood on? Delegates from the Paralympic and Olympic organising commitee where also invited to promote this initiative. Beautiful stuff, now sports is bringing disabled and abled together on the same platform to learn, cherish and embrace what life brings.

I think sports shouldn't be underestimated at all and instead be incouraged to all pupils disabled or not. Who knows what you can do or can't do? ArsenalFC and their PR department did a beautiful job. Who knew deaf  people can play soccer, and not only them some have major speech and communication problems.

The schools who participated in the campaign and the challenges they face:

  •  Robert Blair School, Islington - Arsenal in the Community works with this mainstream primary school which has a language and communications Resources Unit (LCR unit).
  • The Bridge Primary School, Islington - A school for young people with severe and multiple learning difficulties, autism and also other severe physical impairments.
  • Oak Lodge School - A Secondary School for children with mild to severe learning difficulties.

More women in the Sports farternity

By On October 10, 2011

It’s good that we starting to see more women in the sports fraternity, usually men love their sports and never want to sacrifice their time for their wives or girlfriends. Now how about we watch it together? How about we include them in the game and teach them what sports is all about. Sports is not just men and women running around chasing after one ball, sports is a group of people men/female working together to a common goal, it might be scoring, putting, tackling or hitting tennis balls or even swimming. Gender discrimination is not needed any more! Women can do whatever they put they mind too.  I’m not a feminist but, is it why men discriminate against women, because they have little interest in sport? I blog mostly about sport and to my surprise no girl whose following me on my blogs is commenting and when I get to ask them the first answer is that sport is boring but little they know that some women are prohibited completely from playing because of who they are.

Saudi Arabia is deciding not to put women in their Olympics team because they have never allowed it in the kingdom. “A Saudi Arabian newspaper says the ultraconservative kingdom will not send women to the London Olympics”Yahoo news. Saudi Arabian newspaper (Al-Watan) quoted Prince Nawaf, the head of the Saudi Olympic Committee, saying the "kingdom opposes sending female athletes to the Olympics for the first time". This is not a matter of little interest in sports, women our not included because it's never been practiced in the kingdom. It's sad to find out that women are prohibited from competing, playing, and having fun on one of the highest platforms in the world.
Keys and Gray were talking off-air in the build-up to Wolves v Liverpool
The other big case is the Andy Gray matter, whereby he passed silly remarks about a female official knowing the offside rule. According to the bbcnews the two commentators believed that they microphones were off,  Keys and Gray agreed that Sian Massey and other female assistant refrees "did not know the offside rule bbc news." The two commentators initialy said this before Wolves vs Liverpool during the build up. Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: "Their comments were totally unacceptable bbc news."  The comments from Gray and Keys have been widely criticised in football circles. The two commentators offended the sports community and also got repremunded regardless of their seniority. Skysports handled the matter very proffesionaly and didn't condone such behaviour from their employees.
Massey the victim from all this got to defend herself and she stated that the "remarks showed a lack of respect for her." She went on to say, "I just think it's unfair. Here is somebody doing a very important job under very difficult circumstances, who deserves and warrants our respect and here are two people who other people listen to and get their views from not giving her a chance," she said bbc news.
I personally hope that these incidents wont push women away from sport but instead we will all share a common ground were we can participate and learn greatly from one another.

Football clubs pushing for more heart tests:

Photograph: Dave Thompson

The football world have experienced worst month as two players becoming victims of cadiac arrests. The Big hype is more about the former the former Arsenal player Fabrice Muamba, currently playing for Bolton Wanderas. The question is, how is it possible that the medical team miss it or did they really miss it? I will conclude the blog by touching base on the solutions that the clubs came up with to prohibit the same situation from happening.

Fabrice Muamba collapsed during the Tottenham FA Cup match at White Hart Lane Staduim. According to London Chest Hospital  Doctors Muamba was dead for 78 mins. In an emotional interview, Dr Tobin said "It was 48 minutes when he collapsed to reaching hospital and a further 30 minutes after that. He was, in effect, dead at that time"BBC sport. Most describe Muamba's situation as miraculous. Till today Doctors haven't found the real cause of Muamba's cadiac arrest. Muamba's case is very rare, thats why it has been so newsworthy, people sending their regards through twitter, facebook, and other mediums. This has scared the whole football faternity but most importantly the football fans want to know what caused the 23 year old to have that heart attack.

After Fabrice Muamba's espisode the FIFA's medical department will be studying football cadiac arrests situations to know better about the Muamba case. Clearly this has been an eye opening for the football world and already football teams around the world have started sending players to find out from families about any heart diseases been inherited from family. According to doctor Deaner, "the whole response to the incident had been carried out faultlessly he says"guardian.

The most important question is how did the medical team almost fail fabrice Muamba. Bolton Wanderas FC is a football club that competes in high level football, their facilities are one of the best but a football player nearley died, well died for 78 mins. I guess we are all human beings and instead we should be gratefull that the man is progress of getting better and stronger. Too the Football clubs we hope that this episode was a learning curve and that they will do anything in their power to keep players fit and HEALTHY.

Communiction in sport around critical issues

sameerdharur.blogspot.com

Sports in South Africa has had it's high and lows but on a general point of view, we have done well for ourselves. Rugby has been the one sport that has guarenteed us bragging rights internationally. My main focus on the blogg is not about success, pride, or bragging rights. My focus is about communication in sport around critical issues like the doping saga and the ongoing bribes in the cricket farternity. I'm curious to find out how S.A Sports bodies get to tackle these issues and how they get to impact on sports players. I want to know how doping organistions in South Africa get equip our sport personel about what substances they get to use or not in terms of enhancing and imrproving their sports careers. I guess we can't put all the blame on our sports organistions and medical personel, sometimes our sports players our the ones who are making the bad choices.

We have had a Protea player failing the doping test and not much information has been diclosed to inform the public about whats going to happen next but according to sports24.com Rory Kleinfeldt can send his B sample to be reviewed. "SACA on the other hand has decided to remove Kleinfeldt from the T20 squad as a Precaution"Sport24. Although it's not the only case we have amongst the years, doping in our sports farternity has been trailing on thin ice.

We had the Springbok rugby player's Chiliboy Ralepele and Bjorn Basson facing bannes in connection with doping tests that came back positive prior to the Ireland game 2010.According to SARU the two players "were eventually cleared after an investigation concluded that it wasn't their fault and that the stimulant was manufactured in the UK and was tested at SARU's request by one of only two laboratories in the world equipped to perform the necessary protocols in order to ensure that it complied with the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA)"Visit espn. It's imperative that not only do our sports players get crucified the minute they found guilty of something serious but to investigate and also lookout to protect them.

Gerald Majola being interviewed by Judge Nicholson (Zapiro)
Sports has turned into a very personal, money orientated proffession that has been abused and no body can be trusted. As I have touched on the Gerald Majola case on him being accused of bribery and fraud. Firstly I believe that fraud nor bribery are the two offences that are totally prohibited in sport and who ever is found guilty of the two offences should be sent packing. According to Judge Nicholson's report the Mr Gerald Majola has "contravened the Companies Act" and for that some of Mr Majola's colleagues have jumped ship sending out red flags to the matter (where's there's smoke the is fire)vsist eye witness news.

Dennis Cruywagen close associate of Mr Gerald Majola came to his friends defence by questioning Judge Nicholson's credibility to the case. "The minister was briefing reporters on the findings of a ministerial committee, headed by Nicholson, which investigated the affairs of Cricket South Africa. An external audit in 2011 found Majola had contravened sections 234, 235 and 236 of the Companies Act.
The ministerial committee concluded that the CSA board were complicit in a cover-up to protect Majola"visit Mail and Guardian. Judge Nicholson has decided in his report that the CEO of CSA be suspended for 180 days but this decision is still being reviewed until tomorrow at the Board of Directors meeting. I guess no body is above the law. The truth always prevails.
